MTN Nigeria has begun implementing the MTN new USSD codes framework instructed by Nigerian Communications Commission that all network providers in Nigeria should have the same USSD codes.
The new USSD code order has already started to be implemented by mobile network operators in Nigeria.
What are MTN New USSD codes in Nigeria?
With the new codes, telecom customers can now use the same numbers to access services across networks.
The codes are 13 common short codes, including 300 for call center/help desk on all mobile networks, 301 for voice mail deposit, 302 for voice mail retrieval, 303 for borrow services, 305 for stop service, 310 for check balance, and 311 for credit recharge, all these codes have been approved by the NCC as part of the new harmonized shortcodes.
Additionally, 312 is now used as the standard network code for data plans. 323 is for data plan balance in accordance with the new direction, while 321 is for share services. indicated by the code 996.

Following a review by the NCC, the new codes are as follows:
- NIN — *996#
- VAS — *305#
- Share services — *321#
- Account Balance — *310#
- Data plans — *312#
- Airtime recharge — *311#
- Borrowing services — *303#
- Data balance — *323#
Users can still access USSD services using the older codes because MTN has not fully adopted these codes. MTN, for example, has all the codes except the code for data plans working.
