Calendar Planner Organization Management Remind Concept

Google Calendar is a powerful tool for managing your time and schedule. But did you know that you can use different types of calendars for different purposes? This can help you stay more organized and productive.

Here are a few tips on how to use different types of calendars in Google Calendar:

1. Create Separate Calendars for Different Areas of Your Life

One of the benefits of Google Calendar is that you can create multiple calendars within your account. This allows you to separate your events by category, such as work, personal, and social. This way, you can easily see what’s on your agenda for each area of your life.

To create a new calendar, follow these steps:

  • Click the + sign next to Other calendars on the left sidebar.
  • Select Create new calendar from the menu.
  • Enter a name and description for your calendar.
  • Click Create calendar.

You can create as many calendars as you need for different aspects of your life.

2. Color-Code Your Calendars

Another way to distinguish your calendars is to assign them different colors. This will help you identify which calendar an event belongs to at a glance.

To color-code a calendar, follow these steps:

  • Click the three dots icon next to the calendar name on the left sidebar.
  • Select Change color from the menu.
  • Choose a color that suits your preference and click Save.

You can use any color that you like for your calendars.

3. Use Different Calendar Views

Google Calendar offers various views that let you see your events in different ways. You can choose from Day, Week, Month, and Year views. You can also create custom views that suit your needs.

To change the calendar view, follow these steps:

  • Click the View menu on the top right corner.
  • Select the view that you want to use.

You can switch between different views as often as you like.

4. Hide and Unhide Calendars

If you have many calendars, you may want to hide some of them to reduce clutter. This will help you focus on the events that are relevant to you at the moment.

To hide a calendar, follow these steps:

  • Click the three dots icon next to the calendar name on the left sidebar.
  • Select Hide from the menu.
  • The calendar will disappear from the sidebar and its events will not be shown on the main calendar.
  • To unhide a calendar, follow these steps:
  • Click the More menu on the bottom left corner.
  • Select Show all calendars from the menu.

All your calendars will reappear on the sidebar and their events will be shown on the main calendar.

5. Share Calendars with Others

If you need to coordinate schedules with other people, such as colleagues, family members, or friends, you can share your calendars with them. This will allow them to see your events and add their own events to your calendars.

To share a calendar, follow these steps:

  • Click the three dots icon next to the calendar name on the left sidebar.
  • Select Share from the menu.
  • Enter the email address of the person you want to share the calendar with.
  • Select Send.

The person will receive an email invitation to access your calendar. They can accept or decline the invitation.

Conclusion

By using different types of calendars and features in Google Calendar, you can stay more organized and productive. Take some time to experiment with different settings and integrations to find what works best for you.
